The perfect feel-good love story to enjoy as summer comes to an end. I love how the author speaks from the point of view of both Franny and Hayes. I always enjoy reading about the male love interest’s perspective because I feel like we girls get to peek inside a boy’s brain, even if it’s just fiction.
Anyways, let’s dive into the book. Franny and Hayes Montgomery III, (yup that’s his ostentatious name) have a unique meet-cute that you can only fantasize about actually happening, but reading about it only makes it feel all the more real. Their messy meet-cute happened after Franny just gotten fired from her job, she was struggling to get onto the subway, and the subway doors closed on her favorite dress and ripped it, exposing her entire backside; mooning the entire subway. Hayes, an extremely successful (and seemingly handsome) businessman, had noticed her struggling and came to her rescue by doing what any man would do. Giving her his Gucci jacket suit as if it was nothing to him. (That’s when you know it’s true love girls.) Someone noticed their interaction and posted photos of it online gaining them instant social media fame. They both had an instant connection but never thought to see each other again, yet they kept bumping into each other around New York.
From the start, you fall in love with Hayes because he is so cool, calm, and collected. He is a reserved man that only lets his guard down around people he trusts, and who he wants to allow in his life. They have a slow romance build. Each page keeps you wanting more as you get closer and closer to their happy ending. This book is cheesy in all the best ways. It’s what every rom-com fantasizing girl wants, and this surely does not disappoint!
