Same Time Next Summer Review

The perfect feel-good love story to enjoy as summer comes to an end. I love how the author speaks from the point of view of both Franny and Hayes. I always enjoy reading about the male love interest’s perspective because I feel like we girls get to peek inside a boy’s brain, even if it’s just fiction.

Anyways, let’s dive into the book. Franny and Hayes Montgomery III, (yup that’s his ostentatious name) have a unique meet-cute that you can only fantasize about actually happening, but reading about it only makes it feel all the more real. Their messy meet-cute happened after Franny just gotten fired from her job, she was struggling to get onto the subway, and the subway doors closed on her favorite dress and ripped it, exposing her entire backside; mooning the entire subway. Hayes, an extremely successful (and seemingly handsome) businessman, had noticed her struggling and came to her rescue by doing what any man would do. Giving her his Gucci jacket suit as if it was nothing to him. (That’s when you know it’s true love girls.) Someone noticed their interaction and posted photos of it online gaining them instant social media fame. They both had an instant connection but never thought to see each other again, yet they kept bumping into each other around New York.

From the start, you fall in love with Hayes because he is so cool, calm, and collected. He is a reserved man that only lets his guard down around people he trusts, and who he wants to allow in his life. They have a slow romance build. Each page keeps you wanting more as you get closer and closer to their happy ending. This book is cheesy in all the best ways. It’s what every rom-com fantasizing girl wants, and this surely does not disappoint!

Beach Read Review

This book has just about a little bit of everything. There is romance, lust, desire, heartbreak, family problems, tragedy, and wonder.

Gus Everett and January Andrews are book-writing novelists who write about the complete opposite genre. Gus writes about tragedy, and January writes about happily ever afters. It just so happens that they become neighbors in North Bear Shores Michigan and they decide to make a bet with each other to write a novel in each other’s writing style. That’s where the romance really gets to build. I thought about what it was that I loved most about Gus Everett. He had such a broken childhood and writes about calamities and mishaps, but he admires so much the way January sees the world. He thinks that he is not a romantic in any way shape or form, yet, he is living in his own romance novel. The one starring him and January.

That infatuation they’ve had for each other since their time at U of M together finally gets to blossom. I think that girls can really resonate with this novel because, in my opinion, it’s the most realistic form of love. January wants to be with Gus so badly, and every time they have their most intimate moments together or are heavily flirting, she never knows exactly where they stand. It was an awkward flirting friendship, and she was always guessing what he wanted, and whether he was into her or not, even though there were so many signs and actions that proved Gus wanted her. There is always that “what if” with men because they can change their minds, or overthink things, or don’t want to get hurt. This book shows that they are both vulnerable and broken in their own ways, but they are also the best for one another.

Sam and Wyatt. A second chance at love. She’s engaged to her “playing-it-safe” fiancé so she can’t get hurt again. Not realizing she’s setting into a relationship where she can’t even be her true self. He wishes he never pushed her away all those years ago. A walk down memory lane at the Long Island beach house where they grew up together every summer as kids make them remember what they had, and he reminds her who she is. This book lets you know that we’re supposed to let our inner child take over us; to be free and chase our dreams, and it reminds you that in an imperfect world and an imperfect life, you can get what you want.

The Stationary Shop Review

Wistful, yet still sweet. If you want a book that will get your tear ducts flowing, or cause you to throw the book across your bedroom out of anger from all the SABATOGE in the book, this is the book for you! It shows the beautiful Iranian culture in the 1950s and the young love that is found within it. Set to be married, sabotage occurs, but neither of them were aware and thought the other had changed their mind last minute. Bahmen and Roya have something beautiful and rare. Although young, they were meant for each other. Again, you fall in love with the characters and want them so badly to be with each other. I always fall in love with the male lead in every romance novel I read. Given the author’s description, they’re so handsome when I put them together. Even though fate brings them back together, it is not how I wanted the story to go, but that’s the reality of life as well. I would say this is the most realistic love story that most people in the world get because life does not go the way anyone plans it. The comfort of this book is that you know they both loved each other all their lives and still had their own beautiful, happy (not as happy as being with each other) lives that went on.

Jurassic Park Review

FAVORITE MOVIE AND NOW MY FAVORITE BOOK. Sci-Fi at its best! This book thoroughly dives into the science and technicalities behind the dinosaurs. This novel is a dino lover’s dream. Yes, the character personalities are changed a bit for a more dramatic effect for the movie, but I guarantee you will love the book just as much, and maybe even more. There is far more dino action along with an added storyline that is retracted from the film. For me, it’s a tie between the book and the movie, but I will say that everyone I wanted to die in the film was killed off in the book (unreasonable people of course) and that really pleased me.

People We Meet on Vacation Review

This book! THIS BOOK! Oh my goodness. This is the perfect love story fantasy of your dreams that you imagine happening to you. It goes every which way you want it to go, and it does it by not being too predictable. You fall in love with the characters. (ALEX) You love everything about them: their flaws, their insecurities, their wittiness, their humor. Specifically, I love how Alex is to himself, a lone wolf. He doesn’t open up to many people, but once Poppy comes along she basically forces it out of him. This is something new to Alex so he likes it, even if he has a hard time showing it. Poppy isn’t used to being so reserved, so breaking Alex out of his shell and getting to know all of him was something very special to her, and it also calms her down a bit too. You just imagine yourself as the main character and want this to come true. This is an adorable story of best friends to lovers, and it is something you hope everyone can find.
